We are the local A.A. service district for DeKalb County and the surrounding communities, part of Northern Illinois Area 20.
Service area
Cortland, DeKalb, Genoa, Hinckley, Kingston, Kirkland, Maple Park, Sandwich, Sycamore, Somonauk, Waterman, and nearby communities.
Starting a meeting
“Any two or three alcoholics gathered together for sobriety may call themselves an A.A. group, provided that, as a group, they have no other affiliation.”
Tradition Three, long form
- Find a space, and pick a day and a format.
- Email the district; volunteers will list the meeting locally and register it with the General Service Office.
- The pamphlet The A.A. Group covers the rest.
Becoming a G.S.R.
Each group elects a General Service Representative, the group’s link to A.A. as a whole. G.S.R.s carry the group’s conscience to the district, which meets the second Monday of each month at 6:00 pm at Cortland Community Church, 45 W Chestnut Ave, Cortland, IL 60112.
Groups without a G.S.R. are always welcome to send someone. The pamphlet G.S.R. explains the job.
